France EV Charging Points: 118,000 in Dec 2023

118,000 charging points in France – December 2023

On December 31, 2023, France had 118,009 publicly accessible charging points. This represents a significant increase of 44% compared to the same month in the previous year. Since the beginning of December, 3,623 charging points have been deployed across the territory.

France has doubled the total power of its national network. This illustrates of the development of fast and ultra-fast charging on our territory. It can also be noticed that the availability rate has decreased to reach 80% in December. This downwards trend follows the annual average of 83.3% for 2023.

Since 2021, AVERE and the Ministry of Energy Transition have been jointly developing a monthly charging barometer. This barometer shows how charging infrastructure changes based on location and available power. The data is compiled from Gireve, the central digital platform for new mobility.

Since the end of 2022, the barometer has also presented indicators on the usage of publicly accessible charging points in France, in terms of availability and volume of sessions. However, when charging points are under maintenance or not functioning, we consider them to be unavailable.
