With the European Green Deal announced in December 2019, the EU plans to reduce transport industry greenhouse gas emissions by 90% by 2050. This requires, among other things, the deployment of charging infrastructures by public and private actors (European Court of Auditor Report).
Private companies install charging stations in specific areas to maximize their use. In the absence of public financial support, companies would probably only install charging stations in the most frequented areas. To ensure a homogeneous network and the access of charging stations for all, public funding for private initiatives is key (report by our partner SIA partners).
National and European initiatives on this matter are on the rise. The Eu has already committed to having more than 1 million new public charging points by 2030 and to revising the infrastructure deployment directive. (French source: https://www.flotauto.com/strategie-mobilite-europenne-20201211.html). France has renewed the Advenir program for public EVSEs, Germany has passed a law to install a public network of 1,000 ultra-fast charging stations by 2023, the Benefic program for Belgium and Netherlands provides funding for charging stations … The EVSE network densification will, therefore, remain a major trend for all EU countries in 2022.
Where are located the charging stations? What are the habits and needs of users and how can we ensure a relevant deployment? For almost 10 years, GIREVE has been enriching its database on infrastructures and analysing the use of charging stations all over Europe. Today, the platform supports public and private players to make their charging infrastructure plans in a user-centric way.
With our DEPLOY! Consulting offer, GIREVE evaluates needs in a specific area and makes recommendations.
