On October 31st in 2022, there are 75,279 charging points open to the public in France. This corresponds to an average of 112 charging points per 100,000 inhabitants. The number has been increasing by +53% since Oct, 2021.
The barometer of the AVERE-France and the Ministry of Ecological Transition is published every month. It gives an overview of the evolution of charging infrastructure, depending on the location of the station and the power it delivers. This monthly barometer is built thanks to the database of Gireve, the digital platform for new mobilities.
New feature of the barometer of charging in France: usage and availability
Clément Molizon, Avere-France’s General Secretary, states that “Beyond the quantity of charging stations, we need to look at the quality of service and their availability. It is essential for EV drivers.”.
Thus, for the first time, new indicators have been added in this edition. It will bring further information on the usage and working status of charging stations. You can now follow the evolution of the number of charging sessions on public stations, as well as the evolution of the availability rate of the French network. For instance, in October, 2022, 84.7% of charging stations were available. This means that they were neither under maintenance nor out of order.
