On September 31, 2023, 109,856 charging points are open to the public in France. This represents a 53.3% increase over a year. It also means that 3,214 charging points were added on the territory on Q3 of 2023.
Since 2021, AVERE and the Ministry of Energy Transition have been collaborating to produce the monthly charging barometer. The barometer is based on data from Gireve, the e-mobility expert. This barometer provides benchmark information on the number of publicly accessible charging points in France, their geographical distribution, their power. Regional indicators are also available. Additionally, the barometer displays the usage of charging points, their availability rate and session volumes.
Charging station usage in France
As of September, 2023, a charging point gathered an average of 14.4 charging sessions throughout the month. The availability rate of charging points in September is 83%, but DC charging points with a power delivery over 150kW displayed a higher rate (87%). Charging points under repair or out of service are considered unavailable. Finally, in September 2023, the average B2B price of an AC charging session was 0.36€, compared to 0.34€ for a DC charging session.
