OCPI 2.2.1 is now available on Gireve’s platform

Gireve has updated its systems to OCPI 2.2.1. The emobility platform is a strong supporter of interoperability and open standards. OCPI has been implemented early on and Gireve is part of the EV Roaming Foundation to work on future versions of the protocol.

What is OCPI?

The Open Charge Point Interface protocol (OCPI) supports connections between eMobility Service Providers who have EV drivers as customers, and Charge Point Operators who manage charge stations. This protocol is free to use and independent. The EVRoaming Foundation manages and maintains the OCPI protocol and ensure its free availability.

OCPI 2.2.1: What’s new in this version?

This update enables key features for more flexible roaming services.

  • Multi-tenant protocol: you can manage the communication with several operators through a single OCPI connection
  • Flag publish: Private charging points can be identified
  • Tariff targeting: Tariffs can be published from CPOs to specific EMSP
  • Charge detail record: transmission of CPO CDR ID to the eMSP for an easy billing process

This version also improves information on charging station location and on CDRs. By upgrading to OCPI 2.2.1, operators can offer better information to EV drivers on the availability of chargers and cost of charging, with more transparency on the transactions.
