Charging in France: 154,000 points available according to the charging infrastructure barometer by AVERE France and the Ministry of Ecological transition, based on data by Gireve

154,000 charging points in France – January 2025

As of December 31st, 2024, France had 154,694 charging points open to the public, representing a 31% increase in their number in one year. This barometer is produced by Avere-France and the French Ministry of Ecological Transition, based on data from Gireve.

Despite the modest addition of just 1,807 new installations, December allowed 2024 to surpass the record set in 2023! A total of 36,685 public charging points were installed this year, compared to 35,902 in 2023—a 2.2% increase. As of the end of 2024, France had 154,694 charging points spread across 48,247 stations. Electric vehicle users hit the road in large numbers for the Christmas holidays, resulting in December recording the highest average number of charging sessions per point—25.7 sessions. Technical availability and immediate access rates remained stable at 93% and 95%, respectively. Significant updates were made to the methodology for calculating the average number of sessions per charging point, the national average energy consumption per charging point and station, and the total estimated energy consumption of charging points in France. These three indicators have been revised for the past twelve months. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience caused.
