As of February 28th, 2022, there are 55,515 charging points open to the public in France. This represents a rise by 53% over the last 12 months, and an average of 82 charging points for 100,000 inhabitants. The number of charging points keeps rising.
The development of charging networks continues: we noticed a good evolution of the installation of fast power charging points, with 64% of motorway service stations equipped. If this evolution continues, charging network deployement should intensify and outgrow the EV market expansion. In the long run, the number of charging points should at least multiply by 8 between 2020 and 2030 to meet the needs of the EV market. Cécile Goubet, Secretary General of the AVERE France
The transition towards emobility requires a clear follow-up of EVSE deployment, which is necessary to the EV market development. This joint barometer, made by AVERE-France and the Ministry of Environment, is based on GIREVE’s database. It will give monthly updates on the number of charging points open to the public, and details per region and power.
